Green Turtle Cay 5/20/2015
Green Turtle Cay is one of the best-loved cays and a favorite Abaco destination. There is New Plymouth, White Sound and BLack Sound they all provide sheltered moorings and marinas. Green Turtle Cay, is roughly the halfway point down the Sea of Abaco. It is a little three-mile island. The Atlantic Ocean side of green Turle, once a major breeding ground for green turtles, presents a gorgeous stretch of coastline, fringed with reefs and coral heads, and is well know for its giving and beach combing. On the West side are two sounds White Sound to the north offers two resorts and great anchorages. Black Sound to the south, has the Leeward Yacht Club, two marinas and a small mooring field, is close to New Plymouth, the main settlement on the southwest tip of the island.
We have arrived at Green Turtle Cay about 1:15 p.m. nice calm anchorage wish there was a little more breeze coming through hopefully by the end of the day it will pick up a little bit. We will go to shore and explore some. Hopefully find a grocery store here, I am running out of meat and main dishes. We ate part of our mackerel it was delicious. We have enough left for another meal. I had it marinating in herb garlic MMMMMM.
We went into Green Turtle Cay town, where we ate at Harveys, we had grilled Mahi Mahi wrap it was really good with spinach tortilla. I found a grocery store called Lowes where I bought some chicken, pork chops, and ground beef for spaghetti.
Here is a quaint little restaurant called Emily's
Cool Change!
